I have always loved peridot but had little idea it had such a rich history going back to the ancient Egyptians and Cleopatra herself. Cleopatra believed peridot represented hope and courage, it was known as the gem of the sun – a message which feels particularly pertinent in 2021.
The striking collection, which combines luminous octagon cut Fuli peridot, malachite, pink sapphire, and 18ct yellow gold; is inspired by Annoushka’s love of Art Deco. The collection mirrors the era’s feeling of decadence, with polished gold and hard stones, as well as satisfyingly symmetrical patterns. True to both Deco design and her own intrinsic style – there is a pleasing element of surprise and delight, as the designs transform, as if by magic, in front of your eyes.

Working with Fuli is also exciting because as a brand new mine, they are attempting to set a new standard of corporate responsibility through their vertically integrated supply chain. We are acutely aware of the complexities surrounding our industry from diamond and gemstone mining to sourcing gold, and while change cannot happen overnight, the transparency that Fuli are offering is refreshing.
One of the things I love about Art Deco is its total balance and symmetry – it’s extravagant yet completely pared back. I designed my engagement ring in this style 30 years ago and I haven’t ever taken it off – it’s completely timeless and a big inspiration for this peridot collection.
